Standard Sizes

Grade C (3rd Grade) Sandstone Logs come in variable lengths; that is, L x W x H is inconsistent.

C Grade logs have more severe imperfections, including uneven sizes, tapering, chipping and colouring. However, they can still be very useful and cost effective for landscaping projects and garden bed edging, as one side is normally in good condition and this can be used as an outfacing side to still deliver a professional look.

Description and Physical Characteristics

• Dimensions – Highly inconsistent. Lengths and widths vary, and heights can fluctuate with a tolerance of up to plus or minus 200mm.
• Imperfections – Noticeable chipping, severe tapering, surface fissures, colour variations, and occasional missing ends or rough wheel-saw marks.
• Usability – Despite appearance flaws, they retain full structural load-bearing capacity and core durability.

• These are heavy-duty blocks, so plan for proper lifting gear like an excavator or bobcat.
• Building a retaining wall? Add drainage gravel and geofabric behind it to keep water pressure in check.
• Turn the best-looking face outward – with C Grade, positioning makes all the difference to the finished look.
• Go dry-stacked for a natural, rustic look, or mortared for something more polished – the choice is yours.
